About MOXI®
MOXI is an advanced laser treatment that can effectively rejuvenate your skin.
The skin is the largest organ of the body, and it covers its entire external surface. (2) Over time, life events, extrinsic factors, and intrinsic forces are constantly affecting its appearance and composition. This may lead to it becoming wrinkled and sagging, leaving you looking more aged than you actually are. By undergoing MOXI, you can restore the health, appearance, and composition of your skin, and achieve a more youthful look with ease.
Benefits
You can experience several benefits when undergoing MOXI, such as:
- New Collagen Production: MOXI can stimulate the production of collagen in the treated area, leading to improvements in the appearance, elasticity, and overall health of your skin.
- Renewed Appearance: MOXI can soften the appearance of creases and wrinkles, leading to a more youthful-looking appearance overall.
- Smoother Skin: This treatment can address rough or bumpy patches to help you attain a smoother, more even appearance and feel to the skin.
- Reduced Pigmentation Concerns: MOXI can address freckles, dark spots, and other pigmentation irregularities to restore a brighter complexion.
- Short Treatment Time: Each MOXI treatment lasts approximately eight to ten minutes, making it easy to schedule and attend appointments. (3)
- Versatile Application: This treatment can address a wide array of concerns found across the face, neck, hands, chest, arms, and legs.
- Tailored Solutions: Our laser experts customize the settings of the laser according to your skin type, targeted area, and concerns.
- Heightened Self-Esteem: Revitalizing your skin’s appearance may boost your self-confidence and body positivity.
Candidates
You may be an ideal candidate for MOXI if you are interested in elevating the appearance, health, elasticity, and overall quality of your skin. This treatment is especially effective when addressing skin concerns such as:
- Fine lines
- Wrinkles
- Mild skin laxity
- An uneven skin texture
- An uneven complexion
- Visible sun damage
- Pigmentation irregularities
You should be in good general health and hold realistic expectations regarding your results. The targeted skin should also be free from acne breakouts, infections, sunburns, or other damage. Our team of laser experts will assess your candidacy during your consultation.
Personal Consultation
During your personal consultation, your laser expert will meet with you individually to discuss each aspect of your treatment. They will review your medical history, discuss your skin concerns, and establish shared expectations. They will also assess the targeted treatment area.
Your laser expert will then use this information to tailor a solution that suits each of your needs. They will determine what settings to adjust the laser to, and how many treatment sessions will benefit you the most. They will also answer questions you may have prepared.
If you are ready to schedule this consultation, we invite you to contact us online or call (312) 888-5754.
Preparation
Once you schedule your treatment, your laser expert will provide you with a set of guidelines to help you prepare your skin. They may vary depending on your skin type and the details of your treatment plan, but they are typically straightforward.
They often include refraining from using harsh or acidic skincare products that may affect your skin’s natural barrier function. These include chemical exfoliants, retinoids, retinols, and more. You should protect your skin when leaving the house by wearing the proper sun protection and avoiding direct and excessive sun exposure. On the day of your treatment, you should arrive with clean skin that you have cleared of any skincare products, makeup, fragrances, or facial jewelry.
Treatment Steps
When you arrive for your treatment, a member of the Chicago Oculofacial Plastic Surgery team will help you get checked in. They will lead you to a private treatment room, where they will cleanse your skin. Your specialist may also apply a topical anesthetic to enhance your overall comfort.
Your laser expert will then use the MOXI handpiece and pass it over the skin multiple times. As they move it, it will emit pulses of laser energy. They will repeat this motion until they have evenly treated the targeted region. Your laser expert will then use a soothing ointment to calm your skin and reduce any local inflammation or redness.
Recovery
The MOXI laser is known to have a shorter downtime compared to other lasers, with most patients returning to their routines on the same day as their appointment. However, you may experience some temporary side effects as your skin heals. They include:
- A feeling of warmth
- Skin redness
- A dry or rough skin texture
- Mild swelling
While these effects will subside on their own with time, you may also minimize them by:
- Cleansing your skin with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser
- Keeping your skin moisturized
- Avoiding the use of harsh or irritating skincare products
- Using the proper sun protection when leaving the house
- Refraining from makeup use for 24 hours
- Sleeping in an upright position
During your consultation, your laser expert will provide you with a detailed set of aftercare instructions to help you. If any questions arise during this time, our team will be available to answer them and provide you with additional assistance and information.
Results
You may begin noticing initial results within 5 to 7 days, and they will continue to improve as your collagen levels rise. (3) As they develop, you will be able to enjoy smoother, softer, and more evenly-toned skin. This treatment can also reduce visible signs of aging, such as fine lines or wrinkles.
Corresponding Treatments
Your laser expert may combine your MOXI treatment to help you achieve more radiant and transformational results. Two of our other treatments include chemical peels and intense pulsed light (IPL), but you may receive personalized recommendations during your consultation.
Chemical Peels
Chemical peels use chemical solutions to exfoliate the outermost layers of the skin to exfoliate the skin and enhance cellular turnover. It creates a controlled wound on the skin’s surface to stimulate the production of new collagen and reveal fresher, brighter, and healthier layers of skin beneath it.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a treatment that uses light energy to restore the clarity and complexion of your skin. Your laser expert can perform this treatment to target redness and pigmentation irregularities, leaving you with a more even appearance that you can enjoy long-term.
Cost of MOXI®
The cost of your MOXI treatment will vary depending on a combination of different factors, such as the types of concerns you are addressing, the number of treatment sessions you undergo, whether you combine your treatment or not, and more. Once your laser expert has met with you to establish each of these details, they will provide you with an inclusive pricing estimate.
